Metrozone by Simon Morden
Three books in the Metrozone series to date, & all wonderful!
Equations of Life, Theories of Flight & Degrees of Freedom

Gripping, fast moving SF, with some really cool concepts (like an order of bodyguard nuns) & a central character who is smart, bespectacled & funny – very funny.
Also makes use of the Firefly “swearing a lot but in another language” trick to great effect.
I throughly enjoyed these novels

Hooray! the roof is on, finally.
Pretty horrible weekend to be roofing, but on, in spite of the rain & wind & huge storms. On saturday we got 25mm of rain in an hour.

New Office Part 2

Office part 1
The philosophy behind the build is quite simple. A nice big (8.4m x 3.6m) office, with plenty of room. Well insulated, with switchable power supply (grid to generator), & using locally sourced materials.
The location makes a nice courtyard with the main house, & eventually there will be direct access to the office from the northern house fence boundarypoint. The western wall will feature a veranda along the whole length, with a grape vine covered pergola (or whatever you call it) structure, allowing lots of light in winter, & lots of shade in summer.

We have owned our telco since Jan 2011, & prior to that ran the support dept for that telco for quite a few years
We live on 5 acres, with (blissfully) no neighbours, surrounded by cow filled paddocks, with our 4 dogs & 2 cats
